Cimahi City is a city in West Java Province, Indonesia. It is located between Bandung Regency and West Bandung Regency. Formerly part of Bandung Regency, Cimahi was designated an administrative city on January 29, 1976. On June 21, 2001, Cimahi was designated an autonomous city. Cimahi City consists of three districts, which are further divided into 15 urban villages.
In Sundanese, the name Cimahi comes from the word cai mahi, which means "sufficient water." Cimahi became known in 1811 when Governor General Herman Willem Daendels built the Anyer-Panarukan road, with a guard post built in the current Cimahi town square.
From 1874 to 1893, the Bandung-Cianjur railway line was constructed, along with the construction of Cimahi Station. In 1886, a military education center was built, along with other facilities such as Dustira Hospital and a military detention center. In 1935, Cimahi was designated a sub-district.
After Indonesian independence, Cimahi became part of North Bandung Regency. In 1962, the Cimahi Regency was formed, encompassing the districts of Cimahi, Padalarang, Batujajar, and Cipatat. Based on Government Regulation No. 29 of 1975, Cimahi's status was elevated to an administrative city on January 29, 1976, making it the first administrative city in West Java. Starting June 21, 2001, Cimahi's status became a city.
Cimahi is now one of Bandung's growth areas to the west. Its current population is around 483,000, up from 290,000 in 1990, with an average annual growth rate of 2.12%.

Cimahi City is nicknamed "Army City" because in this city there are many educational centers for soldiers, including:
not to mention the army headquarters there, of which there are quite a lot, such as:
and many more, plus a large number of military barracks. With numerous military training centers and other military facilities, approximately 60% of Cimahi City's area is used by the military. Perhaps because of this, Cimahi is also nicknamed the "Green City," a reference to the color of the uniforms worn by soldiers, particularly those from the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD).
However, this situation also presents challenges for the Cimahi city government. This is because land and buildings used by the military are not subject to land and building tax (PBB) payments, thus depriving the city government of revenue from most of its territory.

Although Cimahi boasts potential athletes, the facilities and funding to advance the sport are extremely limited. Some athletes have even decided to leave Cimahi due to this. Furthermore, the 2013 budget allocated was only Rp 1 billion out of the proposed Rp 2.3 billion. According to the Cimahi Regional Sports Committee (KONI), the ideal funding needed is around Rp 4 billion.
