According to study results, the total trip generation in the Greater Bandung Urban Area in 2017 reached 1.89 million passenger car units (PCU) per day. It is estimated that total passenger movements in the Bandung Urban Area in 2017 reached 4.2 million people per day. In the next 20 years (by 2037), it is projected that there will be 2.8 million PCU/day of vehicles in operation, or approximately 6.8 million people traveling daily within the Greater Bandung Urban Area. Such a high growth rate in mobility is difficult to contain, while transportation infrastructure and facilities remain limited, resulting in disrupted accessibility and mobility. Therefore, a new mass transportation mode is urgently needed. The West Java Provincial Government is currently assessing the most suitable mass transportation mode to address this issue. A preliminary study and review of the Outline Business Case (OBC) are being conducted in parallel with the preparation of the Urban Mobility Plan.
