Growing awareness of saving and investing, the Cirebon Financial Services Authority (OJK) held an education for students and students in Ciayumajakuning at the peak of Indonesia Saving Day 2024.
The activity was held at the Cirebon Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (KPw BI), Monday, August 12, 2024.
This activity was attended by the Head of Bank Indonesia Cirebon Representative Anton Pitono, Head of the Indonesia Stock Exchange West Java Representative Office Achmad Dirgantara and Mandiri Sekuritas Cirebon Representative.
The participants were more than 200 students who are members of the Management and Members of the Indonesia Stock Exchange Investment Gallery (GI BEI), the Indonesia Stock Exchange Sharia Investment Gallery (GIS BEI), Generasi Baru Indonesia (GenBI), and the Indonesia Stock Exchange Education Investment Gallery (GIE BEI) in Ciayumajakuning.
Head of OJK Cirebon, Agus Muntholib said that the peak of Indonesia Saving Day (HIM) Year 2024 was held in conjunction with the National QRIS Week.
The theme taken was Ngobrol Investasi yang Cuan, Aman, dan Damai (ROTI CANAI).
Through this activity, OJK Cirebon together with all stakeholders continue to encourage increased financial literacy and inclusion, especially in the field of Capital Markets to groups of students and students to foster awareness of saving and investing for the future.
"OJK Cirebon continues to educate to improve financial literacy or understanding of the younger generation of the benefits and risks of financial products and services."
"So that they become capable consumers, feel the benefits of using financial products and services, and can use financial products and services to create added value," he said.
From January to mid-August 2024, OJK Cirebon has conducted 57 financial education activities in Ciayumajakuning with a total of 20,114 participants.
Financial inclusion in the form of opening Student Savings (SimPel) accounts for the Semester 2 period in 2024 amounted to 1,329,286 accounts with a nominal value of Rp294.54 billion.
Currently, the younger generation is faced with financial digitalization that moves exponentially with very open information flows.
For this reason, OJK will continue to educate the younger generation so that they are not easily trapped in schemes and various modes of illegal investment and online gambling.
"We are committed to continuing to eradicate illegal entities such as illegal online loans, online gambling, illegal investments, and other illegal entities through synergy and collaboration with members of the PASTI Task Force and the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force," he explained.
Meanwhile, Head of Bank Indonesia Cirebon Representative, Anton Pitono on the occasion said that synergy and collaboration like this is expected to increase financial literacy and inclusion in improving people's welfare and supporting regional economic growth.
"Bank Indonesia always supports inclusive finance, economy and digital finance, one of which is through the innovation of the QRIS digital payment system," he said.
