RADAR JABAR - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, through its Financial Institution Pension Fund (DPLK), has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and sustainable finance. This commitment was recognized through the 2026 Kehati ESG Award, with DPLK BRI winning the Capital Markets award for the Pension Fund category.
The award was presented on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Soehanna Hall, The Energy Building, 2nd Floor, SCBD Lot 11A, Jakarta. The ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the BRI DPLK Management, Arie Sus Miyanti.
The Kehati ESG Award is a form of appreciation from the Indonesian Biodiversity Foundation (KEHATI) for financial services institutions that are deemed to consistently implement ESG principles, including through asset and investment management that takes environmental, social, and governance aspects into account and supports sustainable development.
BRI's DPLK's commitment to implementing ESG principles is reflected in the strengthening of its ESG-based investment portfolio. As of April 2026, BRI's DPLK's total assets under management (AUM) reached IDR 31.54 trillion. Of this amount, the ESG-based investment portfolio reached IDR 13.30 trillion, an increase compared to IDR 12.53 trillion at the end of 2025. Thus, BRI's DPLK's ESG-based assets accounted for 42.1% of its total AUM as of April 2026.
Strengthening the ESG-based investment portfolio is part of BRI's DPLK's efforts to support the development of a sustainable financial ecosystem through fund management that takes environmental, social, and governance aspects into account. The implementation of these principles is being carried out in stages and integrated with BRI's DPLK investment management strategy.
On the social front, BRI's DPLK (Pension Fund for Pensioners) is expanding access to participation, particularly for non-wage workers or those in the informal sector. This step is part of an effort to broaden public access to retirement fund preparation programs, ensuring that the benefits of pension fund management reach a wider audience.
Meanwhile, from an environmental perspective, BRI's DPLK (Financial Services Institution) is implementing more environmentally friendly operational processes through the implementation of a paperless digital registration system, or digital onboarding. This initiative not only supports administrative efficiency but also reduces the use of physical documents in operational activities.
ESG implementation is also strengthened through governance through investment management that prioritizes prudent principles. DPLK BRI is also developing Application Programming Interface (API) integration for corporate clients and expanding DPLK BRI's service channels through the BRI e-channel ecosystem. This development aims to support faster, more transparent, and digitally integrated participant data management.
BRI Treasury and International Banking Director Farida Thamrin said that the appreciation received by DPLK BRI confirms that sustainability principles have been fully integrated into BRI Group operations.
"As part of the BRI Group ecosystem, BRI's DPLK plays a strategic role in managing long-term funds that provide optimal investment returns while supporting sustainable development. We believe that integrating ESG principles into business operations serves to strengthen the resilience of the financial industry and distribute real benefits more broadly to society and the environment," Farida emphasized.
In addition to the BRI DPLK, BRI, as the founder, also received an award in the Debt & Project Financing category as an Investor/Creditor at the same event. These two achievements reinforce the BRI Group's commitment to implementing ESG principles and sustainable finance, both through pension fund management and financing and investment activities.
Going forward, BRI and DPLK BRI will continue to strengthen the implementation of ESG principles in sustainable business and investment management, while prioritizing the principles of prudence, good governance, and long-term value creation for customers, participants, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
