Bandung City Government Boosts Green Investment with the UK and IFC

Bandung (ANTARA) - The Bandung City Government is exploring a global-scale green investment partnership with the UK Government and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 22 percent by 2035.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated in a press release on Monday that investment opportunities in the climate sector could strengthen Bandung's position as a world-class investment destination.

"The opportunity to invest within this climate investment framework increases Bandung's chances of becoming one of the world's top investment destination cities," Farhan said.

Farhan noted that several sectors have potential for development through green investment, including waste management, the development of green and blue open space index concepts, air quality improvement, and the management of raw and groundwater.

He added that improving water quality could help achieve the long-term target of providing drinkable tap water, starting at least within the hospitality sector.

British Ambassador to Indonesia Dominic Jermey appreciated the collaboration and affirmed the UK Government's readiness to support Bandung as it enters the implementation stage.

"This report presents data-driven analysis on Bandung's climate resilience priorities while identifying various green investment opportunities in the city. We are thrilled to support Bandung's journey at this stage," Jermey said.

IFC Country Manager Euan Marshall explained that the findings of the City Climate-Resilient Infrastructure (CIOD) study highlight 28 strategic steps to reduce emissions in Bandung. Eight of these steps account for up to 90 percent of the potential emission reductions, such as energy efficiency, waste management, and the strengthening of public transportation.

Additionally, the IFC offered a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme to fund infrastructure projects, such as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), waste-to-energy programs, and low-emission zones.

Purwakarta Regency Investment Realization in the First Half of 2025 Reaches IDR 6.52 Trillion

Investment realization in Purwakarta Regency in the first half of 2025, as recorded in the Investment Activity Report (LKPM) for the January–June 2025 period, reached a total of IDR 6.52 trillion. This value consists of Foreign Investment (PMA) amounting to 19.03% and Domestic Investment (PMDN) amounting to 80.97%. In the first quarter (January-March 2025), investment realization reached IDR 4.07 trillion, with details of FDI amounting to IDR 0.39 trillion and DDI amounting to IDR 3.68 trillion. The absorption of labor was recorded at 2,488 people, with a total of 1,129 LKPM reports submitted. Entering the second quarter (April–June 2025), investment realization amounted to IDR 2.45 trillion, consisting of IDI of IDR 0.85 trillion and DDI of IDR 1.60 trillion. During this period, 3,669 people were employed, with 2,090 LKPM reports submitted. Cumulatively, by the end of the first semester of 2025, total PMA reached IDR 1.24 trillion, while PMDN amounted to IDR 5.28 trillion. The number of workers absorbed from January to June 2025 was 6,157, with a total of 3,219 LKPM reports submitted. These achievements place Purwakarta's investment realization at 58.23% of the central government's investment target of IDR 11.20 trillion and 77.09% of Purwakarta Regency's investment target of IDR 8.46 trillion. The sectors that contributed the most to investment realization included transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications; motor vehicle and other transportation equipment manufacturing; textiles; housing, industrial estates, and offices; as well as leather and footwear manufacturing.
