Various Leading Agribusiness Commodities Projected to Boost Investment in South West Java

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG--- West Java Province (Jabar) is still a favorite investment destination in Indonesia. Not only the manufacturing, textile and infrastructure sectors, but also the agribusiness sector. Because, if you look at the geographical location, the southern part of West Java is a suitable area for agribusiness development. The area which is now called Arumanis has unique natural resources and is more varied than other areas in West Java.

 

According to the Head of the West Java Province Integrated Investment and Licensing Service (DPMPTSP), Nining Yulistiani, the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) has divided development in Arumanis into three themes or clusters. For the agribusiness sector there are Ciamis, Cianjur and Garut.

 

Then, he said, for fisheries and marine affairs there are Pangandaran, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Garut and Tasikmalaya. Then Tourism in Pangandaran and Sukabumi. The Arumanis region, which consists of Sukabumi, Cianjur, Garut, Tasikmalaya, Ciamis and Pangandaran regencies, is considered a suitable area for the agribusiness sector. Because the morphology of this area is rich in plantation land and mountains. The commodities produced also vary.

 

"We are optimistic that we will be able to achieve the investment target in 2024," Nining told reporters this weekend.

 

According to Nining, his party is optimistic that this year's investment target will be achieved, because in 2023 West Java investment realization will reach IDR 210.6 trillion, above the target given of IDR 188 trillion. Moreover, the Arumanis area and the Rebana area in the northern part of West Java have both experienced an increase in the last few years.

 

From 2021 to 2023, total investment in the Rebana Metropolitan area will reach IDR 50.11 trillion. Meanwhile in the Arumanis area it is valued at IDR 27.3 trillion. "West Java has huge investment potential for the agribusiness sector, especially in the Southern West Java region," he said.

 

What's more, he said, according to Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2021, the Southern part of West Java is directed at developing investment in the agribusiness, maritime or fisheries and tourism sectors.

 

Based on data released by the West Java Provincial Government, until 2022, this is a commodity that can be optimized for investment in the agribusiness sector in southern West Java. Namely, Palm Sugar (Tasikmalaya and Cianjur) with a land area of ​​14 thousand hectares and production of 38.5 thousand tons/year, Chocolate Beans (Garut and Ciamis) 239 thousand tons/year, Rubber (Pangandaran and Sukabumi) 353 thousand tons/year, Coffee (Garut, Pangandaran), Coconut (Garut, Pangandaran, Tasikmalaya) land area reaches 154.4 thousand hectares and production is 22 thousand tons/year, Corn (Garut and Cianjur), Mangosteen (Pangandaran, Ciamis, Sukabumi, Garut) and Rice organic (Ciamis, Pangandaran).
