The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, is targeting investment realization of IDR 70 trillion throughout 2026 as an effort to strengthen economic growth while opening up wider job opportunities for the local community.
"Currently, the investment value that has entered Bekasi Regency is IDR 50 trillion. I have a target of IDR 70 trillion entering Bekasi Regency by the end of this year," said Acting Bekasi Regent Asep Surya Atmaja in Cikarang, West Java, on Sunday.
He assessed the target as realistic and highly achievable, given that the region is one of the largest industrial centers in Southeast Asia with very high levels of corporate activity.
This situation provides crucial capital to continue attracting new investment to the region. Currently, there are 9,100 companies operating in 11 industrial areas, eight of which are large industrial areas.
"And if we look at the smallest, or based on Business Identification Number (NIB), there are 58,000 companies operating in Bekasi Regency," he said.
In addition to the number of companies with industrial estate capital being one of the main drivers of the regional economy, investment sustainability is closely related to a conducive business climate that is able to attract investor interest.
"Sustainable investment must be truly supported by creating a safe and conducive environment. If Bekasi is shaken, we don't know what the capital will be like. That's why we must truly maintain a conducive environment," he said.
The party is committed to building healthy and equitable industrial relations between local governments, workers, and employers to support the realization of these investment targets.
The regional government views workers not merely as part of the production process, but as strategic partners of the government in maintaining economic growth and the sustainability of the business world.
"Fair industrial relations and conducive investment are highly relevant and a shared commitment that we must realize. Laborers are not merely factors of production, but strategic partners in economic development," he said.
The Bekasi Regency Government affirmed its readiness to act as a facilitator in building communication between workers, employers, and the government. It is hoped that various labor issues can be resolved through constructive dialogue and negotiation.
"God willing, I will sign what my fellow workers want and aspire to, of course, through negotiation mechanisms and within the company's capabilities. We are also striving to maintain a conducive investment climate and provide convenience for investors interested in entering Bekasi," he said.
