Sukabumi District Receives Top 5 Investment Challenge 2024 Award

NATIONAL INFO - Sukabumi District Government received the Top 5 Investment Challenge 2024 award from the Governor of West Java, on Friday, June 28, 2024. The award was given at the West Java Industrial Meeting (WJIM) event at the Trans Studio Convention Center Bandung by the Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia Representative of West Java Province and the Head of DPMPTSP of West Java Province,

The award was received by the Head of DPMPTSP of Sukabumi District representing the Regent of Sukabumi. Also present at the event were representatives of Bappelitbangda and Perumda Agro Sukabumi Mandiri.

Investment Challenge 2024 is a competition activity participated by Regency / City throughout West Java through the assessment of Investment Proposals in accordance with the potential of the region.

Investment Challenge 2024 as a strategic activity is the inaugural program organized by the West Java Province Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service (DPMPTSP) Office in collaboration with Bank Indonesia West Java Provincial Representative Office.

Sukabumi District contributed to the Investment Challenge 2024 by proposing a proposal entitled “Development of Modern Rice Processing Industry”. This proposal was prepared by a team consisting of Perumda Agro Sukabumi Mandiri, Bappelitbangda and DPMPTSP, and supported by the Agriculture Office, DPTR and Food Security Office.

This proposal is proposed under the Business to Business (B2B) scheme. If this proposal receives investment support, Perumda Agro Sukabumi Mandiri can manage a modern Rice Milling Unit (RMU) in Jampangkulon to produce premium quality rice from unhulled rice from farmers/farmer groups in Sukabumi District, so that the rice from Sukabumi District can be processed by itself.

The Top 5 Investment Challenge went through a long process starting from the feasibility of the proposal, the preliminary round in the form of an evaluation of the feasibility of the investment offered, the Top 10 in the form of an RMU business feasibility analysis and finally the Top 5 in the form of a presentation of its investment proposal in front of potential domestic and foreign investors at the West Java Investment Roadshow (WJIR) event on June 20, 2024 at the Kempinski Hotel Jakarta.

The Top 5 Investment award means that Perumda Agro Sukabumi Mandiri is an Investment Worthy Perumda. Furthermore, the Top 5 Investment Challenge will also be included in the West Java Investment Summit (WJIS) in October.

West Java Offers Green Energy and Kertajati Projects to Malaysian Investors

The West Java Provincial Government is stepping up its efforts to attract foreign investment by presenting a portfolio of high-value strategic projects to Malaysian investors. Through the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026, the provincial administration will showcase a range of flagship projects across key sectors, including renewable energy, industrial estates, technology, healthcare, and infrastructure. This initiative forms part of West Java’s strategy to maintain its position as one of Indonesia’s leading investment destinations while strengthening economic ties with Malaysia, which has consistently ranked among the province’s largest foreign investors. According to the West Java Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), Malaysian investment in the province reached IDR 25.7 trillion in 2025. The investment was realized through 1,197 projects and generated nearly 3,000 jobs. Over the past three years, cumulative Malaysian investment in West Java has reached approximately IDR 44 trillion. Siti Nurhuda, Coordinator of the Investment Promotion and Downstream Development Team at DPMPTSP West Java, stated that SIBS 2026, scheduled to take place on 9–10 July 2026 in Bandung, will serve as a strategic platform for connecting investors with investment-ready projects prepared by local governments. “A number of projects are ready to be offered across various strategic sectors, ranging from renewable energy, industrial estates, technology, healthcare, and creative industries to infrastructure,” Siti said in a statement released on Tuesday (16 June 2026). One of the province’s key investment priorities is the green energy sector. West Java plans to promote the development of floating solar power plants at the Sadawarna, Cipanas, Darma, and Kuningan reservoirs. In addition, waste-to-energy projects in the Greater Cirebon area and Subang Regency have been identified as priority investment opportunities. In the industrial sector, the government is preparing several projects considered highly attractive to international investors. These include the Kertajati Aerospace Park, envisioned as a future aerospace industry hub; the Kertajati Logistic Hub of Indonesia; Subang Smartpolitan; Losarang Industrial Estate; and Taifa Industrial Park. Meanwhile, healthcare has also emerged as a major focus area. West Java is promoting the development of medical tourism destinations and integrated healthcare service centers, sectors that are expected to benefit from growing demand for modern, high-quality healthcare services. Beyond business forums and networking sessions, SIBS 2026 organizers will arrange site visits to selected project locations. The initiative is designed to provide prospective investors with first-hand insights into land readiness, infrastructure support, and the long-term development potential of each project. The investment drive comes as West Java continues to record strong investment performance. During the first quarter of 2026, the province attracted IDR 76.78 trillion in investment, representing approximately 24 percent of its annual target of IDR 314 trillion. This achievement places West Java among Indonesia’s largest contributors to national investment realization. The High Investment Inflow in Karawang Has Little Impact on Labor Absorption

Karawang (ANTARA) – The Karawang Regency Manpower and Transmigration Office in West Java acknowledged that the high level of investment entering Karawang does not necessarily increase labor absorption because most investments are capital-intensive. “The investments entering Karawang are mostly capital-intensive, so they don’t significantly affect labor absorption,” said Rosmalia Dewi, Head of the Karawang Manpower and Transmigration Office, on Sunday in Karawang. Capital-intensive investments mean companies rely heavily on machines and technology, requiring fewer human workers. This contrasts with about ten years ago when many labor-intensive investments focused on employing large numbers of workers entered Karawang. “Because most of the incoming investments are capital-intensive, the labor absorption is not very large,” she added. However, the office continues efforts to improve human resources so local job candidates in Karawang can compete. This includes collaboration with schools and companies to conduct training programs to ensure graduates’ skills meet industry needs. According to data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), investment in Karawang reached Rp68 trillion in 2024, a significant increase from Rp42.1 trillion in 2023. Despite this large investment figure, it does not correspond to a proportional increase in employment. Data from the Karawang Manpower and Transmigration Office shows that in the first half of 2022, labor absorption amounted to only 4,524 people. In the third quarter of 2023, out of 1,934 investment projects, labor absorption was only 4,314. Danantara and INA Sign Investment Agreement in Prajogo’s Listed Company Project

JAKARTA, investor.id – Danantara Indonesia, Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), and Chandra Asri Group (TPIA)—the listed company of Prajogo Pangestu—have officially signed a Conditional Share Subscription Agreement (CSSA) to strengthen domestic production capacity of Caustic Soda and Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) and enhance national supply resilience. This agreement follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) previously signed by Danantara Indonesia, INA, and PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), under which Danantara Indonesia and INA act as strategic investors in the project. The agreement marks the capital commitment phase supporting the construction of the Chlor Alkali – Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) plant in Cilegon, Banten, developed and operated by Chandra Asri Group. The project aims to reduce dependence on imports of critical raw materials used across various industries, while advancing the downstream industrialization agenda as part of Indonesia’s long-term economic transformation. The establishment of domestic Caustic Soda production capacity is expected to significantly strengthen import substitution and improve domestic supply resilience. Meanwhile, EDC production will not only support domestic industrial needs but also has the potential to increase exports and contribute to foreign exchange earnings, alongside strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s national chemical industry. The CA-EDC plant development is valued at US$800 million and forms part of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), focusing on the production of essential raw materials for both upstream and downstream industries. Caustic Soda is used as a key raw material in the production of soap and detergents, alumina refining, and paper manufacturing processes. EDC, on the other hand, is a primary raw material supporting the construction and packaging industries. Under the agreed investment structure, Danantara Indonesia and INA will jointly invest a total of US$200 million. The funding will be allocated to develop the strategic CA-EDC industrial facility managed by PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA), a subsidiary of Chandra Asri Group, which is scheduled to commence operations in 2027. Pandu Sjahrir, Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Indonesia, stated that the agreement reaffirms Danantara Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening high value-added strategic national industries, creating jobs, and accelerating Indonesia’s economic growth.
