The floating solar power plant (PLTS) at Saguling in West Bandung Regency, West Java, is the first project of a Saudi Arabian company, ACWA Power, in the new and renewable energy (EBT) sector. The project is managed by PT Indo ACWA Power Saguling with PT PLN as a partner.
To follow up on this cooperation, the President Director of PT Indo ACWA Power Saguling, Rudolf Rinaldo Aritonang, signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PLN.
"This is Saudi Arabia's first investment in the EBT sector," said the President Director of PT Indo Acwa Tenaga Saguling during the Signing of Power Purchase Agreement for the 60W Saguling Solar Power Plant at PLN Headquarters, South Jakarta, Tuesday (13/8).
Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo also revealed that the cooperation effort with Saudi Arabia through ACWA is a step by PLN to respond to increasingly critical global warming.
"Global warming is increasingly critical, this is a challenge that requires extraordinary opportunities for expansion, investment and collaboration," he said.
He also sees renewable energy as an effort to combat global warming which can also create jobs.
Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, said Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have tremendous potential in investment. This can improve relations between the two countries.
He invited investors in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia to increase investment in Indonesia, especially in the field of renewable energy. According to him, this is in line with Saudi Arabia's current vision.
"Saudi Arabia currently has a vision of 2030 according to the direction of Crown Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz," he concluded.
