Kuningan (ANTARA) - Kuningan Regent Dian Rachmat Yanuar has confirmed that investment in the manufacturing sector in the form of a shoe factory will soon be coming to Kuningan Regency, West Java, with an investment value of between Rp1.2 trillion and Rp1.8 trillion.
“One of the agreements reached is the entry of investors in the manufacturing sector with an estimated investment value ranging from Rp1.2 trillion to Rp1.8 trillion,” said Dian in his statement in Kuningan on Friday.
He conveyed this certainty after the Kuningan Adiluhung event in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/9), which brought together local governments and potential investors.
He said that the investment would have a direct impact on the regional economy, especially in terms of large-scale absorption of local labor.
“In the initial stage, it can absorb 2,000 to 3,000 workers. Gradually, the number is targeted to increase to 5,000 to 7,000 people,” he said.
According to him, the Kuningan Regency Government (Pemkab) is directing incoming investments to not only focus on economic growth but also to improve the welfare of the community.
The agreement to build a shoe factory, he said, is the first step in an inclusive and sustainable regional economic transformation.
Dian explained that in the Kuningan Adiluhung forum, the local government had presented other potential areas of excellence, such as agriculture, tourism, renewable energy, and the creative economy.
In addition to the presentation, he continued, the forum provided an interactive question and answer session so that potential investors could understand the opportunities available in Kuningan.
He emphasized that regional regulations fully support incoming investment, including through accelerated licensing and technical assistance.
“We will ensure that the entire process runs smoothly so that investors feel comfortable investing their capital in Kuningan,” he said.
He invited the community to play a role in maintaining a conducive investment climate, as investment is believed to be able to overcome the problems of unemployment and poverty.
Dian is optimistic that the entry of shoe factory investment can open thousands of new jobs and drive regional economic growth.
“If there are parties that interfere with this process, we will certainly take firm action,” he said.
Previously, the Kuningan Regional Government was confident that it would be able to achieve its investment realization target of IDR 1.9 trillion by 2025, in line with positive growth trends and efforts to improve regional investment regulations.
In 2024, the region is expected to exceed its investment target of IDR 1.8 trillion.
