KABARIKA.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman affirmed his commitment to encourage investment while maintaining the national Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (LP2B).

 

According to him, the existence of agricultural land is the foundation of national food security that should not be compromised.

 

This was conveyed in the time of receiving the visit of the Governor of West Java (Jabar) at the Head Office of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

 

In the meeting, the two discussed the agricultural sector, plantations, downstream, and increased rice and food production and investment potential, especially in West Java.

 

"The Governor said that in Subang will be built a car factory with an investment value of around Rp33 trillion. Incidentally, some of the planned land is rice fields. We will resolve this obstacle together to keep the investment going and the jobs open. However, if there is a transfer of agricultural land, we assert that the land must be replaced at least three times the area of land that is diverted so that farmers still have a decent replacement land," said Minister Amran when receiving an audience of the Governor of West Java, Wednesday (13/8/2025).

 

Minister Amran said he did not close the investment that entered Indonesia because this was able to open jobs for the people of Indonesia. However, this is asked not to interfere with the area of agricultural land.

 

"Currently, we are actively doing an increase in production, we can see our current high rice production data in history, so the existing agricultural land is optimized to pursue our production targets," said the Minister of Agriculture.

 

In addition, at the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture Amran also at the same time checks the achievement of food production of West Java Province which is currently ranked third nationally.

 

The Chairman of the South Sulawesi Family Harmony (KKSS) requested that in the future food production in West Java continue to be improved.

 

The Ministry is ready to provide a full support, both through technical assistance, facilities and infrastructure assistance, as well as intensification and extensiveness programs, to ensure national food availability is maintained.

 

“West Java's food production is already quite high, ranked third. But if possible, Mr. Kadis, please help accelerate it further so that it can become number one," said Minister of Agriculture Amran.

 

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said at a meeting with Minister Amran that there were three main agendas discussed, namely, first, the greening of PTPN land, second, investments in the Subang Regency area, namely Vinfast and BYD.

 

"As mentioned earlier, there is LP2B land in that area, but in fact, the rice fields no longer exist. However, according to the data, the LP2B is still on the West Java spatial map, so today we want to make adjustments so that investment can proceed and agricultural land can be replaced," said Dedi.

 

Not only that, Dedi said that the Ministry of Agriculture and the West Java Regional Government agreed to strengthen collaboration between the central and regional governments to encourage growth in the agricultural sector, downstreaming, and job creation, especially in West Java.

 

“We have agreed to implement the Minister's strategic recommendations to replace the affected LP2B land with an area three times its size. This is part of our commitment to maintaining food security, supporting investment, and growing the regional economy,” said Governor Dedi.
