The Cirebon-Patimban-Kertajati (Rebana) Metropolitan Area is now emerging as a new center of economic growth in West Java, marked by accelerated infrastructure development, the growth of industrial estates, and increased investor interest due to its strategic location. The presence of the West Java International Airport (BIJB) in Kertajati, the expansion of toll road connectivity, and integrated government planning strengthen Rebana's projection as a future economic and industrial hub. There are 36 industrial tenants in the Rebana Area, with an investment value of over IDR 25 trillion by the third quarter of 2025, exceeding the figure for 2024*.
Helmi Yahya, Chief Executive of the Rebana Area Management Agency, stated in a presentation at the Metland Kertajati Media Gathering (13/12) that the Rebana Area recorded economic growth higher than both West Java and the national average. In the third quarter of 2025, Rebana's economic growth reached 5.53%*. "Majalengka is one of the fastest-growing regions in terms of development. Its economic growth rate in the third quarter of 2025 (YoY) reached 8.07%, the second highest in Rebana*, and it absorbed 18,933 workers by the third quarter of 2025, the highest in Rebana*," explained Helmi Yahya.
In line with this development, at the end of 2024, Metland introduced Metland Kertajati as a modern residential and commercial area to support the growing industry in the Rebana area. "A growing industrial area certainly requires housing facilities, both residential and hotels for long-stay guests in the surrounding area, and Metland Kertajati addresses this need," said Anhar Sudradjat, President Director of PT Metropolitan Land Tbk, in his remarks at a media gathering.
The Rebana area requires facilities that not only support mobility and industrial activity but also revitalize the area. The presence of Metland Kertajati provides new energy for the growth of the Rebana area and is a vital part of the region's transformation into a modern economic center of West Java.
Nitik Hening, Director of PT Metropolitan Land Tbk, explained the development concept for Metland Kertajati, which will be developed under the New City concept, combining residential areas, commercial centers, public facilities such as hotels, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, green open spaces, and an integrated business network.
In the first phase of development, Metland Kertajati opened a four-hectare plot of land under the name Sava Terra, offering a range of homes, shophouses, and boarding houses (rukos), all of which are currently sold out. Currently, the Dharmawangsa Shophouses are being marketed to revitalize the commercial area, and the Tanasultan Cluster, a premium residential complex, is being prepared. Land sizes range from 160 to 256 m2, priced starting at IDR 2.7 billion, targeting local residents seeking an improved quality of life through more upscale housing without having to move far from their familiar surroundings.
Metland Smara Hotel
On the same occasion, Wahyu Sulistio, Director of PT Metropolitan Land Tbk, conveyed Metland's strategic move to develop a hotel business network under the Metland Hotel Group (MHG) by using the Metland name for the hotels it develops. This step was taken with the aim of ensuring quality and excellent service and building loyalty to the Metland brand.
The nomenclature is based on star ratings, ranging from three-star, four-star, and four-star plus, and is categorized as a business hotel, resort, or boutique. Metland Smara is the name for a four-star business hotel (city hotel). "Smara" is derived from the Sanskrit word for love, which translates to a warm, friendly, and comfortable stay. "The name Smara is chosen in the same way as Venya, the previously operating Metland Venya, which is also derived from the Sanskrit word "Venya," meaning "loved," Wahyu explained.
Metland Smara Hotel Kertajati, which has been operating since 2021, is part of the Metland Kertajati development. In keeping with its category, Metland Smara Hotel Kertajati targets MICE events and the growing demand for modern accommodations for corporate businesses and industry in the Rebana area. The Metland Smara name will be used for other four-star Metland hotels, including its planned presence in Bekasi.
"Currently, MHG manages six hotels owned by Metland and will soon have eight hotels along with the development process of Metland Smara Bekasi and Metland Marron Tomohon," Wahyu concluded.
