JawaPos.com - PT SGMW Motor Indonesia (Wuling) inaugurated the production line for MAGIC batteries located in the supplier park area at the Wuling Motors factory located in Cikarang, West Java.
This local battery production facility, which has an investment of more than IDR 87 billion, is claimed to reflect Wuling's long-term commitment to supporting the development of the electric car industry in Indonesia.
This step is also part of Wuling's efforts to participate in accelerating electrification and completing the electric car ecosystem in the country. In addition to battery production, Wuling has also produced ABC stories in Indonesia.
"As part of SGMW Motor Indonesia, which is one of the main players in the automotive industry, we are proud of Wuling's contribution in supporting Indonesia's transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy," said Andrin Adhitama, Operation Manager of Wuling Motors Battery Line through his statement.
The production of Wuling's MAGIC battery will go through five stations which are claimed to have been designed to ensure the best efficiency and quality. Starting from the Cell Stacking Station, where battery components are tidied up and arranged into the battery housing.
The process continues to the Welding Station which uses robotic technology to connect battery cells and harnesses precisely. Then it continues at the Front Pack Station, where the top shell of the battery is installed and the bolts are tightened perfectly.
Then the next phase is the Charging Station, which is the battery testing area to ensure optimal performance and safety during the charging and discharging process. Finally, the Rear Pack Station, here the battery will be weighed, packaged and stored properly before being distributed to electric car production.
What is interesting about the previous process is the Welding Station. This work area is tasked with carrying out the welding process to connect the battery cells and the electric vehicle battery harness through two main work stations, namely Busbar Welding and Collecting Wire Harness Welding.
Busbar Welding uses high energy density laser technology as a heat source for welding between battery cells. Meanwhile, in the Collecting Wire Harness Welding Island, welding is carried out between battery cells and harness cables using a laser.
These two work stations run robotically and automatically using the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), so they have high accuracy and efficiency.
MAGIC Battery is predicted to be a battery innovation from Wuling that integrates various advanced technologies in order to produce high performance and maximum safety. MAGIC reflects five main aspects, namely Multifunction Unitized Structure Technology (MUST), Advanced Cell Safety, Greater Performance, Intelligent Management, and Combustion Free.
MUST technology itself is inspired by the design of aircraft wings integrating the battery structure into one functional part that is claimed to be light, strong, and modular, thus increasing structural strength by up to 60%.
Thanks to Advanced Cell Safety, this battery has cells with extra protection using a ceramic layer. This advantage is combined with the High Precision Battery Management System and Cloud-based AI to monitor battery conditions in real-time, detect more than 240 safety parameters, and provide early warnings.
