TRIBUNJABAR.ID, CIREBON- The Cirebon City Government (Pemkot) closed 2024 with various positive achievements.

Acting Mayor of Cirebon, Agus Mulyadi said that the government's performance throughout the year, including controlling inflation, increasing investment, reducing poverty, and winning various awards was considered good.

According to Agus, Cirebon City's inflation in November 2024 only reached 0.18 percent compared to October 2024.

"This cannot be separated from the effectiveness of the implementation of the duties of the Food Task Force and TPID," said Agus, Thursday (2/1/2025).

In the investment sector, Agus revealed that Cirebon City recorded a realization of IDR 1.97 trillion, far exceeding the initial target of IDR 850 billion.

"This achievement shows investor confidence in the investment climate in Cirebon City," he said.

Agus also appreciated the decline in extreme poverty rates from 1.66 percent in 2022 to only 0.34 percent in 2023.

"This result is the fruit of an integrated economic empowerment and social assistance program," he explained.

Throughout 2024, Cirebon City won 8 national awards and 23 West Java awards.

Some of them are the Bhumandala Geospatial Information award, Informative Regency/City and Germas implementation.

In addition, Cirebon City also received recognition for its communal intellectual property, including the Cirebon Mask Dance and culinary specialties such as Empal Gentong and Sega Bogana.

"This award is real proof of our commitment to preserving culture and increasing regional competitiveness," he said.

In the field of disaster management, 133 incidents were recorded throughout 2024, with fallen trees being the most.

Agus emphasized the importance of sustainable disaster mitigation.

Meanwhile, the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada took place conducively with a participation rate of 66.03 percent.

"Although there was a slight decline, the implementation of the Pilkada continued to run democratically," he said.

Agus hopes that this positive achievement will be the foundation for realizing a more advanced and prosperous Cirebon City.

"Let's work together to build Cirebon City in a better direction," said Agus.

With these various achievements, the Cirebon City Government is optimistic about facing 2025 with a strategic plan that has been designed, including strengthening the local economy and better quality public services. (*)

Rosan said that based on data from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, there were three achievements made from investment realization for the period October 2019 to June 2024. Distribution of Foreign Investment in 2023, Mostly Entering West Java

According to data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), throughout 2023 Indonesia will receive foreign investment realization of around US$50.27 billion. The largest portion of foreign investment (PMA) went to West Java, with a value of US$8.28 billion or 16.5% of the total FDI. Apart from West Java, other provinces in the top 3 are Central Sulawesi and North Maluku with details of PMA values as shown in the graph. Meanwhile, according to Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and Grant Thornton, the top 3 provinces on this list have benefited from foreign investment related to the electric vehicle industry. In the Unraveling Indonesia's Prospects in 2024 report, KIC-Grant Thornton said there were several battery factories being developed in West Java. "One of them is the PT HKML Battery Indonesia factory in Karawang, which is one of the largest electric vehicle battery producers in Southeast Asia," they said. KIC-Grant Thornton also said that foreign investment in Central Sulawesi and North Maluku mainly goes into the nickel sector, a raw material for making batteries. "Because nickel is a key strategic sector, North Maluku is likely to continue to benefit from development of this sector in the medium and long term," wrote KIC-Grant Thornton in its report. West Java Prepares Five Regions to Attract Semiconductor and Data Center Investments

The West Java Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Agency (DPMPTSP) is developing an investment clustering strategy across its 27 regencies and cities to attract capital investment in several priority capital-intensive sectors. Head of DPMPTSP West Java, Dedi Taufik, stated that the agency has been closely observing global investment dynamics over the past few years, which have shown a shift from infrastructure-focused investments toward high-technology, capital-intensive industries. “We are implementing a thematic regional investment approach in West Java,” he said on Monday (February 23, 2026). Dedi explained that in 2025, global investment trends were dominated by the data center and semiconductor sectors, both of which recorded significant growth. Data centers alone accounted for one-fifth of the value of newly established projects. “Meanwhile, infrastructure, renewable energy, and tariff-sensitive industries such as textiles, electronics, and machinery experienced sharp declines in investment,” he said. According to him, the substantial increase in investment value that was not matched by a proportional increase in semiconductor projects was likely driven by the artificial intelligence (AI) boom and semiconductor sovereignty policies such as the CHIPS Act in the United States and similar initiatives in Europe and Asia. “This trend indicates that global capital flows are becoming increasingly selective, prioritizing high-value strategic projects rather than expanding conventional manufacturing facilities,” he explained. Based on the clustering results, several areas in West Java have been designated as centers for downstream electronics and semiconductor industry development. “These locations include Bekasi Regency, Subang Regency, Purwakarta Regency, and Sukabumi Regency,” he said. In addition, West Java is projected to become a hub for Indonesia’s digital economy and data center development, supported by investments from more than 30 companies. The main locations for these investments are industrial estates in Bekasi Regency, Karawang Regency, and Purwakarta Regency. This creates market potential, meaning investors are not only building industries but also serving a growing consumer market,” he said. According to projections, West Java’s population is expected to reach 52.69 million people by 2030, resulting in substantially higher food demand. Job Creation Becomes Priority of New Government
