BYD Builds Factory in Subang as Investment Magnet for Rebana Area

Bisnis.com, BANDUNG - The Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Agency (DPMPTSP) of West Java continues to promote the development of the Rebana Metropolitan Area as a new economic growth center.

Head of DPMPTSP West Java, Dedi Taufik, stated that the Rebana Area is now a development priority due to its future industrial sector potential.

The Rebana area, covering Subang, Majalengka, Cirebon, Indramayu, Sumedang, and surroundings, is projected to become a center for industry, logistics, and integrated transportation.

"We will realize the arrangement of the Rebana Area following Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2021. This includes accelerating flagship projects such as Subang Smartpolitan and the development of Kertajati Airport," he said, quoted Wednesday (21/5/2025).

According to him, the Rebana Area is now starting to attract global investors, including the Chinese automotive manufacturer BYD, which will build an electric vehicle production facility in the area.

"The presence of BYD, we hope, will provide a multiplier effect in terms of supporting industries, employment absorption, and significant technology transfer for West Java," he said.

In addition to Subang Smartpolitan, the Aerocity area in Majalengka is also being prepared as a national aviation and logistics industry center.

An area of 3,500 hectares around Kertajati Airport is currently being prepared with supporting infrastructure.

Not only that, Indramayu is also becoming a point of attention, including Losarang, which is being developed as a new industrial center, supported by improving connectivity.

"We align this with infrastructure development such as Cipali Toll Road, Kertajati Airport, and Patimban Port to strengthen the competitiveness of the area," he added.

Previously, of the total investment entering West Java in the first quarter of 2025 amounting to Rp68 trillion, most were absorbed in Bekasi Regency with Rp21.4 trillion, Karawang Rp15.3 trillion, Bekasi City Rp3.5 trillion, and Purwakarta Rp4.97 trillion.

Meanwhile, investment in the Rebana area is still relatively small. Subang Regency recorded Rp2.39 trillion, Cirebon Regency Rp878.31 billion, Majalengka Regency Rp699.57 billion, Indramayu Regency Rp362.33 billion, Cirebon City Rp252.46 billion, and Kuningan Regency Rp67.54 billion.

Majalengka (ANTARA) -The manager of Kertajati Industrial Estate Majalengka (KIEM) said there were seven investors from within and outside the country, who had invested in one of the industrial allotment areas in Majalengka, West Java. “The investment value that we recorded only in terms of land purchases in this industrial allotment area reached Rp40 billion,” said Reni Anggarwati, Marketing Section of KIEM Management in Majalengka, Wednesday. She explained that the seven investors consisted of one foreign investment (PMA), and six domestic investments (PMDN) that had committed to pouring funds into the area. The industrial estate in Majalengka, she said, covers an area of 400 hectares designed to accommodate various industrial sectors such as food processing, shoes, steel, concrete to manufacturing. Reni said that the area is part of the development of the Rebana Metropolitan area, whose provisions are regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 87/2021. “We only started moving in 2024, so the total investment value will only be seen next year. However, if you refer to reports, investment in this area is one of the highest,” he said. JAKARTA – The number of sharia stock investors on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) experienced significant growth until early September 2024. Based on data collected from Sharia Online Trading System (AB-SOTS) Exchange Members as of September 9 2024, the number of sharia stock investors increased by 240% in in the last five years, from 44,536 investors in 2018, to 151,560 investors in July 2024. From a geographical perspective, as of June 2024, at least the 6 largest regions on the island of Java still dominate the distribution of sharia investors, led by DKI Jakarta (18%), West Java (14%), East Java (12%), Central Java (9%), DI Yogyakarta (6%), and Banten (4%). Meanwhile, Aceh province is a 'Special Region' whose requirements for the application of Islamic sharia law still contribute 3% of the total sharia investors as of June 2024. In terms of transactions, as of September 9 2024, the average daily volume of stock transactions included in the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) has reached 76% of the total transaction volume on the IDX. The total value of sharia share transactions in the first half of 2024 has reached IDR 2.2 trillion, with a volume of 5.8 billion shares. A number of Java regions still control the majority of transactions.
