Karawang, West Java (ANTARA) -
Acting Governor of West Java Bey Triadi Machmudin is optimistic that the new Walahar Bridge which was inaugurated and is located in Kutapohaci Village, Klari District, Karawang Regency, Wednesday, will further support the community's economy.
The reason is, said Bey, this bridge connects two districts in Karawang Regency, namely Ciampel and Klari which are on the border with Purwakarta Regency and helps accessibility for the community, the majority of whom work as traders.
"The Walahar Bridge which was just inaugurated is proof of the government's presence in serving and providing convenience for connectivity and access to the community which has implications for the community's economy," said Bey in Karawang.
Because, with increased accessibility and connectivity in the region, this new Walahar Bridge will support the improvement of the economy of the surrounding community.
"The community really appreciates this bridge. Of course, from an economic perspective, it will make it easier for those who are trying (to trade), and also increase market coverage," he said.
The new Walahar Bridge itself was built through a West Java Province financial assistance scheme worth around IDR 52 billion.
The new Walahar Bridge is a type of concrete bridge with a width of seven meters with two lanes of vehicles, two directions and a length of 130 meters with three spans.
In addition to being a connection between Ciampel District and the Purwakarta Regency border, the new Walahar Bridge can also support tourism access and the South Japek Toll Road and overcome frequent congestion.
Previously, the community used the Walahar Dam Service Bridge which was built in 1925 with a width of only three meters.
For that, Bey instructed the Karawang Regency Government to follow up on the construction of the new Walahar Bridge with road development so that congestion can be resolved.
"The development by the local government related to the narrowing of the road will be widened so that congestion does not occur," he said.
